2022/2023 LSSB Bursary: Disbursement of funds will commence in July-34th Nulass-lasu President

The 34th National Union of Lagos State students, Lagos State University, NULASS-LASU, President, Comr. Fasasi Ibrahim Olajide had assured All concerned Applicants that the Disbursement of funds for the 2022/23 fresh beneficiary,  Bursary and scholarship awards will begin next month, July. He made this known at the Town Hall meeting which took place at Twin-hall Building, Faculty of Law, Lagos State University, main campus, Ojo, on Friday, 28th of June, 2024.

The Numero Uno of NULASS-LASU, while addressing his fellow Nulassites emphasised that the Disbursement of funds for the Fresh beneficiary of the 2022/2023 academic year was Impended owing to Inaccessibility of Indigenous Verified students list from tertiary institutions. According to him, Disbursement of funds for the Indigenous applicants will begin in July/August once the Students Indigenous status has been verified by their respective tertiary Institutions.

Speaking on the Fresh beneficiary application form, The President of the Union declared that the Application portal was formally closed on December, therefore, any Registration which took place after that timeframe is tagged void and nulled. He, further explained that the Opening of the application portal since January was to enable the Registered Applicants update their Basic Bio-data profile details and to correct other errors.

He, however, admonished All Nulassites to pay close attention to the Union’s official channels of Information Dissemination for first-hand, Reliable and authentic pieces of Information from the Lagos State scholarship board as well as the Union.

Comr Ibrahim Olajide, while clearing the air on the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 subsequent beneficiaries payment averred that All Subsequent beneficiaries have been paid. He however, stated that about 11 million naira meant for over 200 students bounced back owing to dormant bank accounts Inputed by Applicants at the point of application, supplying of Non-commercial banks such as Kuda Microfinance Bank, Opay and Palmpay, Incorrect Matriculation number as well as Contradiction of names on BVN, School Profile and Bank account.

Pursuant to the foregoing, the Patriotic and untiring Comrade with the Interest to serve the Indigenous students’ populace had directed All affected applicants who are Subsequent beneficiaries and is yet to receive payment to provide proof of evidence such as Bank statement stating their last payment for error rectification (If any) and proactive follow up. In his words, he unequivocally said that All cases submitted will be treated with utmost urgency and payment will be received within the span of two weeks.

In the same vein, Mr President added that The Union’s Public relations Officer, Comr. Bello will reel out a broadcast to that effect. He also, urged the affected Indigenous students to submit the required documents and details at the Union’s Secretariat office situated at Faculty of Law, on or before 5th of July, 2024.

On the 2023/2024 academic year application form for the Year 1 students, The Witty and Sagacious President Implored the freshmen to exercise patience as the board will open the portal for application after the clearing of backlog payment of the subsequent and fresh beneficiaries for the 2021/2022, 2022/2023 & 2023/2024 Year.

He further Instructed the new intakes to refrain from registering for Bursary/scholarship form from Cyber-cafe operators, external bodies and unauthorized Individuals. Ibrahim Olajide attributed this to the fact that the so-called Organizations and personalities do charge exorbitantly and also render quack and unprofessional service in return, which preponderant of freshmen being new to the system, do fall victims to the hands of these preparators.  consequent upon the above, All Bursary/scholarship application will be conducted by the Union.

The Undaunting Comrade posited that the application site upgrade is one of the major hindrance for the commencement of sales of fresh application form. He elucidated that All hands are on deck by the Technical unit of the Board to ensure that the Application website transcended to user-friendly.

Oreintating the Year 1 student, The 34th President of the Union, proclaimed that the Governor of Lagos State, Sanwo-Olu had approved an Increment in Bursary and Scholarship award fee which ranges from #50,000-#60,000 & #200,000-#225,000. Along the same lines, He added that as an Indigenous students, they are entitled to beneficiary of the award throughout their years of study in the University. according to him, the most Intriguing part of this is that; Application for the form is conducted once and the payment costs a token.

Comr Fasasi brought the meeting to a close by charging all Nulassites to participate in other Union activities excluding Bursary and scholarship, these include; IBILE Cup, IBILE Cultural day, Academic Symposium and IBILE Award and Dinner night. As inferred from his statements, explicit details regarding the aforementioned activities will be communicated to the public shortly.
