The Senate of the Ekiti state university (EKSU) had Directed the Suspension of academic activities for two weeks with effect as from Today,11th of April,2023.
This was contained in a Press release reeled out by the Directorate of Information and Corporate Affairs,Dated 11th April,2023.
As exclusively gathered,The Campus was ordered to shut down academic activities owing to the protest of students in tuition fee hike as well as the Late Registration fee payment of #5,000.
The Policy implemented ” Late Registration or No Examination” had instigated the protest on campus which students have locked both the main gate and satellite gate of the Institution.
The situation has caused a standstill within the University premises, leaving students and staff stranded.
Consequent to the above,the University Senate via her spokesperson,Bode Olofinmuagun, ordered all students of the University to vacate the campus Premises immediately and should not be seen within the campus Premises for the next two weeks.
He further stated that any student found wandering around the University premises does so at his/her own risk.
This proactive action from the Ekiti state university management is to restore normalcy back to the Campus.
The Students’ Union Government will meet with the University management to discuss on the relaxation of “Late Registration or No Examination” policy and also the decrease of the hike in tuition fee which is expected to take effect as from the 2022/2023 academic session.
