The Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Lafia (FULafia), Professor Shehu Abdul Rahman, has charged students on good character, urging them to be good ambassadors of the institution at all times.
The vice-chancellor gave the charge at the venue of the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 sessions combined matriculation ceremony of of the University.
Abdul Rahman, who appealed to the students to be determined, diligent and resilient in the pursuance of their academic endeavours, said: “May I mention to you, the matriculating students, that we have zero tolerance for any form misconduct at the Federal University of Lafia and we do not hesitate to saction unplesent behaviours.”
He described matriculation exercise as the climax of activities designed to introduce fresh students to the system and ensure that they derive the greatest benefits from the resources available to the University.
He urged them to eschew evil activities and shun all associations and groups that could bring them on collision path with the University.
“Keep away from drugs and other anti-social activities such as cultism, hooliganism and examination malpractices,” he said, adding: “I envision a university that is world class and running on a business template to achieve the standards that prepare students for lucrative job market or as entrepreneurs.”
Many people from within and outside the University attended the ceremony including deputy vice-chancellors Shugaba, Aleruchi and Dakyes.
Others included the registrar, Abdu, Librarian, Iyoro, deans, directors, heads of departments, staff and students.
