The Lagos State University, Ojo, LASU, had on Tuesday, 28th of May, 2024, matriculated over 2000 students into the Diploma programme for the 2023/24 session.
The Director, Lasu consult, Prof Ibrahim Bakare, made the announcement at the ceremony which took place at Buba Maruwa Auditorium, Main campus, Ojo, Lagos State.
Prof. Ibrahim Bakare, in his speech informed that the Matriculation ceremony was the second organized for Diploma students since the incorporation of LASU Consult Ltd by the University in 2019.
He added that the consult manages 25 diploma programmes across the Institution and no fewer than 2000 Diploma freshmen took the Matriculation oath.
Speaking Further, The professor of Development and Economics Studies, charged the Matriculants to build on their Ideas, goals and thoughts during their Diploma Years by working hard, making strong commitments, imbibing persistence, and developing determination to have a better and more fulfilling future.
The Vice chancellor, Lagos State University, Prof. Ibiyemi Ibilola Olatunji-bello, mni, fnli NPOM, ably represented by the Deputy Vice-chancellor (Academics) Prof. Olufunsho Omobitan, reiterated that the University remained a student-centred Institution and a place for grooming generational leaders.
She disclosed this while delivering her speech at the well attended Matriculation ceremony which held at the University’s main Auditorium.
“LASU is also a place to groom great leaders as well as an Institution that is focused on character development of its students.
I enjoin the students to strive for commitment in academic excellence and abide by the rules and regulations of the Institution.
All students should shun corrupt practices, hooliganism, exam malpractice and other vices than can expose them to danger”. She said.
The Newly admitted Diploma students expressed their excitement during the Matriculation ceremony earlier today.
Speaking with our Correspondent, Raji Aminat, from Faculty of Communication and media studies, was overjoyed to witness her Matriculation ceremony day.
In her words, she was inspired to graduate with standard CGPA like Aminat Osaitameh who graduated with perfect CGPA of 5.00, from faculty of Law.
Similarly, Another matriculant from Faculty of Social sciences, Habeebullah Olabiyi, also promised to abide by all the rules and regulations of the University and also, averred to make judicious use of his time during the Diploma programme Years in the University.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Emmanuel Fanu, Registrar, LASU, administered the oath and matriculation pledge on the students, while representatives from the different faculties signed the matriculation register for the students.
The well-attended Matriculation ceremony has in attendance the Principal officers of the University, Deputy Vice chancellor, Administration, Prof. Adejoke Boyo, Registrar, Mr Emmanuel Fanu, Librarian, Dr Makinde Omowunmi amongst others.
The Special Assistant to the Vice-chancellor, Dr Lateef Salami, Chief of Staff to the Office of the Vice-chancellor, Dr Lateef Shekoni and Deans of All faculties were in attendance.
Pressmen present at the ceremony were Vanguard, Correspondent; Mr Adesina Wahab, Bond FM, Correspondent; Mr Otunba Elugbaju, Daily Independent, Correspondent; Mr Kayode Ajiboye and the News Agency Nigeria, NAN, Correspondent; Mrs Kemi Olanipekun.
